Bicycles for the win!

Sorry this post is a bit after the last…I’ve been trying to get laundry done for the first time and these washers are half the size of ones back home, so it’s taking me longer than usual.

Despite not having class today (yay!), I got up way earlier than I would have liked…I ended up doing a whole lotta nothin’ until around 2pm when Amanda and I went to town. We walked around and tried to shop, but Amanda wasn’t in the shopping mood and thought everything was too expensive (it is Sweden…). Oh well. I can go shopping on my own later, I suppose. We checked out the church from the inside, which was nice, and just walked around downtown after the weater cleared up. I desperately tried to find some place for us to eat but Amanda’s feet were killing her and any of the places we came across didn’t interest her, so we went to Max’s again. Ugh, we had so much food (a meal of a burger, drink, and fries) but it was very good as far as fast food goes. While inside, there were 2 seriously annoying children that kept running into me and stepping all over my exposed feet as I was waiting for my food. Then, there were a ton of high schoolers out and about the town today dressed as super heroes for some reason…weird. Oh! There were also some sort of hippie protest consisting of about 10 people haha.

When we were done, we took the bus out to this guy’s house where Amanda was renting her bike from and it took forever to find. Why would you divide up the main street with a street on the left for all even numbered houses and a street on the right for all odd numbered ones? Way to be confusing. We accidentally interupted dinner despite the guy saying to stop by at 6pm and he wasn’t even there! His parents had to help us out hah. But she got a nice 3-speed, basket included for the 2 week rental price of a one-speed without basket. Niceeee. The dad told me he is a teacher at one of the high schools and asked if I would come talk to his 9th grade class about the government. I told him I’d love to as I’ve done those type of presentations before and it’d give me something new to do. When we left, we attempted to bike back together with one of us sitting on the shelf thing above the back wheel, but I couldn’t manage driving with Manda on the back and it hurt too much for me to sit back there. No matter. Manda took the bus back to my apartment all the way across town and I biked back. I actually beat her back haha! Definitely a good incentive to know biking is always faster than public transit around here.

Like I said before, now I’m just doing laundry…I have class at 9:15am tomorrow and I’m not looking forward to it at all.
