This is actually for Tuesday, August 25th
(My internet was broken this morning so I didn’t get a chance to post after my long night)
I was pretty lazy today for the most part of the day. I tried to clean up my room some since I’ll be living here for good, but my back hurt and I’m still pretty physically exhausted so I gave up and just rested. After awhile I finally got ready and biked off to pay my rent and then went to town for some shopping! I wasn’t looking for anything in particular but I know I need more fall/winter clothes, so I guess I looked around for that. I ended up shopping at 3 of my favorite shops - H&M, Vero Moda, and Gina Tricot. I got 2 scarves, gloves, a pin (for my future winter coat), a zip-up pencil skirt, long-sleeved top, and cardigan. Pretty good! I know I need to get a coat soon but I’m trying to look around more before buying the first one I see…I did really like a few at H&M and might go back and get them. Plus at 600kr (about $80) is the average price for a coat around here and not bad considering how heavy they are.
After this, I met up with everyone for a BBQ at Kalmar Nation. There were “fun and games” earlier at another nation, but I skipped out because I wasn’t sure what it entailed. I’m glad I did too because a few of my friends went and no one showed haha. Anyway, the BBQ sucked because there wasn’t enough food and apparently we were suppose to bring our own meat? Okay…whatever. Nick had bought some for those of us hanging out (me, Masa from Japan who lives in my apartment, Sarah from UW who also lives in my apartment, and Daniele from Italy) so we went back to Sarah’s kitchen to cook something up instead. It ended up being pretty good despite them using every spice they could find haha. This reminds me how badly I need to go grocery shopping - right now I’m living on cereal and open faced sandwiches because the kitchen is too gross to cook in.
We all planned on going to Snikres Nation for the club night but when we got there oh my gosh. The line to get in went around the block and we were severely underdressed. All the girls were wearing heels and dresses. Whoops. We met up with some of Daniele’s friends from Italy - Paolo and Hilary, plus a few people I’ve seen a few times - Tobias from Germany, Laura from the Netherlands, and Nick from England, and decided to go to another nation to hang out. On our way to Gästrike-Halsinge (the one I want to join), we stopped and watched this outdoor play on Gustav at the massive church. It was surprisingly warm as I wasn’t wearing a coat. When we finally arrived at Gästrike, it was closed..crap. I left my bike here (we’ll be coming back in the morning for brunch), however, because I realized I didn’t have a light and it’s illegal and a major fine of 600kr if you’re caught riding without one at night. I hope no one snatches it…it’s by a bunch of other bikes so it should be fine. We finally found a nation that was open - Norrlands, and went inside to hang out. Unfortunately I left my temporary nation ID at my apartment and I was freaked out they wouldn’t let me in. After searching and searching, I finally asked and showed my driver’s license and the guy told me this was my one free chance. Yes! We all hung out here until midnight and then Sarah, Masa, and I headed back on the bus to Kantors. I’m ready for a good night of sleep now!
